Oh my God ?

We all have some idea of what 'god' actually is (or isn't), but why do people believe in a god at all ? I hope to go some way towards answering this question, primarily by examining the concept of god within some of the major world religions. To explain to someone why you believe in god, you need to have a clear idea in your mind of what (you believe) god is. I should point out at this point that I use the word 'god' as a western convention - feel free to substitute any other word of your choice.

Okay, here goes.....
Without giving too much away, I'll try to give you an idea of what I'm like. I'm 16, and in 6th Form doing A' Levels. In September I will be applying to do theology at University. I got into this 'what is god' thing when someone leant me a book about Christian Theology. If you have any kind of opinion on god at all, I'd love to hear from you. I might even reply....
